Tongue Drums

These are various "tongue drums" made from oak, mahogany, cherry and poplar. These drums are patterned after the teponaztli, an ancient Aztec drum. Many factors affect the sounds they produce, including the size and shape of the resonant cavity, the length and width of the tongues, the type of wood, and the presence and size of sound holes.
